Youth Empowerment & Development
Mentoring, education, leadership development, employability preparation and positive community activities — so young people recognise their potential and create a positive future.
VAO Foundation CIC is a compassionate, inclusive community organisation established to support individuals, families and communities experiencing disadvantage, hardship, vulnerability or difficult life circumstances.
We understand that life can change unexpectedly. Loss of income, family breakdown, homelessness, domestic abuse, unemployment, poor mental health, food poverty or a personal crisis can leave people feeling isolated, overwhelmed and uncertain about where to turn.
At VAO Foundation, we believe that no one should have to face life's most difficult moments alone.
We provide practical support, guidance, encouragement and access to opportunities that help people rebuild their confidence, regain stability and move towards a more independent and hopeful future.
It reflects the courage of people who continue to rise despite hardship, disappointment, disadvantage or circumstances beyond their control.
VAO Foundation was created from a deep understanding of what it means to face adversity and still find the strength to keep moving forward. We recognise that behind every difficult situation is a person with a story, dignity, potential and the ability to rebuild when given the right support.
We do not define people by what they have experienced. We see their strength, their possibilities and the future they can still create.
Many people experience hardship without having access to the right information, practical assistance, emotional support or opportunities. Some people are prevented from progressing because of circumstances such as poverty, homelessness, abuse, unemployment, poor mental health, family responsibilities or social exclusion.
VAO Foundation exists to help bridge that gap. Our purpose is not only to provide immediate support during times of crisis, but also to help address the barriers that prevent people from achieving long-term stability and independence.
Through community programmes, partnerships, training, mentoring, wellbeing initiatives and practical assistance, we aim to help people move from crisis towards confidence, opportunity and sustainable change.
To provide compassionate, practical and inclusive support to individuals, families and communities facing hardship, vulnerability or disadvantage. We aim to improve lives by promoting wellbeing, developing skills, creating opportunities and helping people build the confidence and independence needed to move forward.
A society in which every person, regardless of their background or circumstances, has access to the support, dignity and opportunities needed to overcome adversity and build a better future — stronger individuals, more resilient families and empowered communities in which people are supported not only to survive difficult circumstances, but to thrive beyond them.
Mentoring, education, leadership development, employability preparation and positive community activities — so young people recognise their potential and create a positive future.
Promoting emotional wellbeing, reducing isolation and creating safe, supportive spaces where people feel heard, respected and able to seek help without shame or judgement.
Practical support, guidance, training and access to essential resources to help families strengthen their stability, confidence and ability to move forward independently.
Vocational training, digital skills, entrepreneurship, career development and employment-readiness — because meaningful opportunity creates financial independence and long-term security.

We listen without judgement and treat every person with kindness, patience and respect.
Meaningful assistance that responds to real needs and helps people take positive steps forward.
Not just temporary help — we strengthen confidence, skills, independence and long-term resilience.
Open, welcoming support that values people from every background, culture, age and life experience.
Working with volunteers, organisations, professionals, businesses and supporters to increase our reach and impact.
Every person deserves dignity, regardless of their present circumstances or past experiences.
Having gone through many difficult experiences in life and, by the grace of God, managed to come out on the other side against the odds, I understand what it feels like to need help, a guiding hand or simply a voice saying, "You are not alone."
There were times when I wished someone had been there to support me, speak for me or help me find my way through the challenges I was facing. Although that help was not always available, I continued to fight, believe and move forward.
Today, I believe I survived those experiences for a purpose.
I want to become the helping hand I once needed.
I want VAO Foundation to be a voice for people who feel unheard, a source of hope for those who feel forgotten and a place of support for anyone trying to rebuild their life.
Our work is rooted in compassion, lived experience and the belief that difficult circumstances do not have to determine a person's future.
Sometimes, one opportunity, one act of kindness or one person who genuinely cares can change the direction of someone's life.
Through VAO Foundation, we want to provide that support and help as many people as possible move from hardship to hope, from vulnerability to strength and from surviving to thriving.
We aim to support people from all backgrounds who are experiencing hardship, disadvantage or vulnerability, including:
Support is provided according to individual needs, available resources, programme criteria and the capacity of the Foundation.
"Lasting change cannot be achieved by one organisation alone."We work with community groups, charities, schools, local authorities, businesses, professionals, volunteers and donors — because through strong partnerships and collective action, we can reach more people, respond more effectively and create sustainable opportunities. Together, we are building stronger futures.
Volunteer your time, contribute professional skills, become a community or corporate partner, sponsor a programme, donate essential items or make a financial contribution. Every act of support, regardless of its size, can help someone feel seen, supported and empowered to move forward.
